About This Geek

Forged in the fire of Hades, I was first introduced to the world of geekdom at a young age. My father painstakingly recorded the audio track from a television broadcast of A New Hope, the cassette of which wore down from daily use. This launched a lifelong affair with science fiction and fantasy, along with an inclination to own really expensive things made by Gentle Giant. While Star Wars (pre-Lucasmuckingfication) is my original love, I’m a fan of many obscure and wonderful television shows, and since 2004 have attended Dragon*Con as an outlet for my inner-dork and a chance to be with my fellow geeks.

Sometime in my early teens I started mucking around with MS DOS and Windows 3.1. This lead me down a path from which I can never return, and sparked an avid obsession with computers and technology. Apple owns most of my soul these days, but I plan to share what I think to be useful tips and tricks ranging from HTPC configuration to dangerous Linux commands. I’m also a “photographer-in-progress”, learning about my new DSLR and hopefully making it a bona fide hobby.

Later in life, thanks to college, I gained a rather significant amount of weight. In time however, I eventually lost said weight thanks to my final obsession: running. To me it ties it with everything else, especially given the science behind the mechanics of the body and the technology that assists with my training. You may see a few posts here and there regarding my journeys on the pavement.

So when take all this and dump it into WordPress, you get this site – topics running the gamut of geek. The things that make up me.
